Our very special holiday prize this month is a 6-night stay in two stunning properties in Andalucia on a bed & breakfast basis, with the winner and partner arranging their own flights and car hire, either later this year or in 2021.
Your first stay will be for three nights at the boutique Casa Higueras, listed as one of the 7 best rural retreats in Andalucia. Ian Rutter and Andrew Watson are the owners of this beautifully restored house, sitting on the edge of the historic village of Moclín. It is stylish and extremely comfortable; the delicious breakfasts are a highlight.
Your stay at this intimate, cosy and unique B&B in the Andalucian mountains near Granada will be taken to another level when you step out the back door. From the terrace and garden, the world opens below you with amazing views stretching across the valley as far as the peaks of the Sierra Nevada.
The second part of your stay will be 3 nights bed & breakfast at Villa Hermosa Colina, around 90 minutes’ drive away. Sitting high above southern Spain’s Costa Tropical, this Balinese-style villa nestles in the most glorious private garden, and the views out to sea are breathtaking. The large and airy rooms are beautifully furnished, and the pool area is an oasis of calm.

You may be interested to know that both Casa Higueras and Villa Hermosa Colina are part of a fantastic initiative called #MyTravelPledge which was launched by Ian and Andrew to offer free and discounted short-breaks to healthcare and other frontline workers once travel restrictions are relaxed. Since the campaign’s launch in March, over 5,300 healthcare workers have been nominated and over 100 free holidays have been allocated.
#MyTravelPledge gives something for healthcare workers to look forward to, and boost morale at this difficult time; it gives property owners some hope that their tourism businesses might have a future when travel restrictions are lifted; and it invites travellers to start visiting Spain again once the crisis abates.
