British Travel Awards 2020 – we won Gold again, thanks to your votes!

Travel Talk

British Travel Awards Gold Winner On the afternoon of 14 December, the Silver Travel team attended the ‘virtual’ British Travel Awards 2020 hosted by Alex Jones along with comedian Pat Monahan.

Once our category was announced our collective breath was held, could we win Gold again for the Best Reviews/Ratings website against competition from giants such as Trip Advisor and Lonely Planet? And yes, we did! A hat-trick of wins 2018, 2019 and 2020. We are so truly delighted. And want to thank each and every one of you who voted for us in this incredibly challenging year.

We know that overseas trips and cruises have been cancelled, with much disappointment, however many of you taken holidays in the UK and shared these with us. During lockdowns 1 & 2, wonderful photos and reviews of walks in special places kept us all going. We just love the spirit and determination of Silver Travellers even in difficult circumstances. These qualities have kept us focussed on bringing you information and updates, along with a little nostalgia and fun through 2020.

So thank you, we are thrilled to receive this award, due to your votes. And we are looking forward to 2021 and, hopefully, as a year with more holiday possibilities and the freedom to be with our families and friends more easily.

British Travel Awards’ chief executive Lorraine Barnes Burton said: “Silver Travel Advisor is to be congratulated on winning the award for Best Travel Reviews website for the third year in a row in this most difficult year for the travel industry.

The winners of the British Travel Awards are decided by votes from the travelling public and despite many people being unable to take a holiday this year some did manage to, before and between lockdowns. The British Travel Awards is still the largest consumer voted awards in the UK and congratulations to all the worthy winners.”
