Corinthia Hotel Lisbon

The 24 floor high tower of the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon is located in the secluded Sete Rios neighborhood, a good distance from the buzz and noise of the old city, but a short metro journey to get to the heart of the city. The hotel is ideally placed to explore all the city’s attractions,  palaces and castles. You can easily visit the religious sanctuary of Fatima on the outskirts of Lisbon or venture into the mountains to visit the picturesque town of Sintra.

Corinthia Hotel Lisbon This 5-star hotel, which was recognised as Portugal’s Leading Business Hotel at the 2014 World Travel Awards in Athens, dominates the business district of Lisbon. The hotel gained the prestigious award for its exceptional corporate facilities, conference and event services. The hotel’s conference hall comprises of 16 rooms with a private entrance and has a capacity to accommodate over 1,400 people in an area of 32,000 square feet.

The Corinthia has the biggest conference centre in Lisbon. However, the 518-room hotel is not just for business customers. There is plenty to delight leisure guests, especially families with young children. The hotel’s public areas are very attractive plus the city and surrounding area is more than enough to keep you busy while staying in the hotel.

Executive Suite - Corinthia Hotel Lisbon My spacious executive suite at 22nd floor had a comfortable king size bed and a large sitting room with a good size desk made me feel at home. I arrived in my room to find fresh fruit, small snacks, canapés, nuts and desserts nicely laid on the dining table as a welcome gesture. I had everything needed for a relaxing stay including mini bar and large TV screens in both rooms. There is a great view from the large windows in my room. They overlook the historic aqueduct of the Águas Livres. This magnificent example of 18th century  architecture spans the Alcantara valley with arches up to 65 metres high and passes through 58 kilometres to bring drinking water to Lisbon.

Something even more special about staying in an executive suit is access to the Executive Club Lounge located at 24th floor. This exclusive lounge offers a haven of peace and quiet while enjoying the full buffet breakfast and throughout the day a selection of hot and cold light food snacks, fruits, pastries, coffee, tea, and a variety of cold drinks. It is a place where, as you would expect from the Corinthia Group, you will be treated like a VIP by the attentive staff. A member of staff is always present at the desk to help with the guests’ needs and to give you information about the city’s attractions. The club floor also provides breathtaking panoramic views of Lisbon, the Aqueduct, the 25-de Abril Bridge and Monsanto Natural Park.

Award winning spa - Corinthia Hotel Lisbon I always wonder how to keep a balance between using the facilities in the hotel and discovering the many attractions that the city has to offer. It would be all too easy to succumb to the delights of The Corinthia Hotel and remain within it’s welcoming environment.

The Corinthia Hotel combines hospitality and luxury with in-depth health care for regular guests and those guests who require special medical attention. The award-winning spa, granted the title of Life-Changing-Spa by Tatler Spa Awards,  features a large modern Acqua area including water pressure showers, cold water walking path, hydrotherapy pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and bucket shower in addition to a large swimming pool, a fully equipped Gym and over 14 treatment rooms where a group of experienced professional therapists are waiting to pamper you.

Corinthia Hotel Lisbon If you are hungry, you don’t need to go too far to enjoy your lunch or dinner, as the hotel’s Sete Colinas and Tipico restaurants offer the best of Portuguese cuisine in a nice calm atmosphere. Try the great selection of seafood and culinary delights combined with the fresh local ingredients. Alternatively, you can relax in the Tempus Lounge Bar and enjoy your drink or treat yourself to some tea or coffee served with local deserts.

A short walking distance from the hotel will find you at Lisbon Zoo and the Gulbenkian Museum. The zoological gardens, founded in 1884, is home to over 2000 animals and representing more than 300 different species. It isn’t only a recreational area but also a place of education and research.

The museum established by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation exhibit’s the founder’s private collection including ancient artifacts and a modern Portuguese art collection ranging from the 19th Century to the present day.

Corinthia Hotel Lisbon If you wish to reach the old city of Lisbon the metro station is just across the street, but taxis are also very cheap. The City is surrounded by seven hills and full of monuments and attractions such as Belem Palce, BelemTower, Jerónimos Monastery, Lisbon Cathedral and the Castle of S. Jorge.

The Sete Rios railway station is opposite the Corinthia Hotel and can take you into the mountains surrounding Lisbon. The town of Sintra, in the heart of the mountains, is a crossroad for visiting beautiful gardens, the historic palaces such as National Palaces of Pena and Sintra and ancient castles.

Lisbon is a ‘must see’ city cradled by dramatic mountains and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. One last thing – you can’t leave before you have tried one or more Pastéis de Nata the famous Portuguese custard tart.
