Accessible Walking in Lincolnshire and Norfolk

We asked Eleanor to research accessible walks in these areas on behalf of one of our members. She responded with such a treasure trove of information that we want to make it available to all Silver Travellers looking for inspiration.

We’d love to add other parts of the country too. Email us at service@silvertraveladvisor.com if you have any information or would like to research on our behalf.

Other ideas:

  • The Humber Bank Walk is an out and back walk which follows the old flood defences along the Humber from Barton on Humber to Immingham. We usually park at New Holland and walk west to Barton upon Humber or east towards Immingham. From memory this is a good surface often gravelled and flat.

  • Normanby Hall Country Parknear Scunthorpe may be a bit too far west for you but has an al weather route through woodland as well as gravelled roads.
  • The Foss Dyke walk between Brayford Pool in Lincoln and Torksey is wheelchair friendly but again would be an out and back walk.
  • There is also the Spa Trail in Woodhall Spa along a stretch of disused railway line which is accessible to wheelchair users.
  • There are few forests in Lincolnshire, butWillingham Woods near Market Rasen may be worth checking out.

  • Burghley House near Stamford is surrounded by a huge area of parkland crossed by tarmacked tracks.
