Barbados with a twist

If we asked you to sum up Barbados in a short sentence, we hazard a guess that you’d reference the sunshine, the pristine beaches, the inviting accommodation, and we’d agree with you! These are all of course reasons why thousands of visitors flock to the sun-kissed shores of Barbados.

But, there is so much more for travellers to explore, and you may be surprised at the variety of experiences on offer. Whether you visit for the cuisine, culture, nature, Bajan heritage or wellness there is something in Barbados for you.

Culinary capital

Offering some of the finest cuisine in the Caribbean, from five-star restaurants to local establishments, Barbados’ eclectic mix of American, European and Asian influences are all featured in the unique style of Bajan cooking.

Fresh seafood is abundant, with local delicacies including flying fish, swordfish, tuna, lobster and shrimp.

Culture trip

Barbados is a beautiful island of only 166 square miles; nevertheless, it makes up for its small size in the rich Caribbean culture and deep historical roots.

There are many historical sites in Barbados, a particular favourite for visitors is George Washington’s House. Located in Barbados’ Historic UNESCO World Heritage Site in St. Michael this house was where the young George Washington, the future United States of American president visited in the year 1751.

Nature’s finest

If you want to see the real Barbados hidden behind the tourist hotspots then we’d recommend taking one of the many Barbados island tours on offer.

You’ll be able to explore the most beautiful places on this island paradise, journeying through forests, gullies and remote bays, enjoying stunning views and a close up experience of the unique flora and fauna.

Tee time

Home to five PGA Standard golf courses – Apes Hill, Royal Westmoreland, Sandy Lane Country Club, Sandy Lane Green Monkey and Barbados Golf Club – as well as a nine-hole course at Rockley Resort, Barbados has lots to offer golfers.

For the golf connoisseur the only thing that matters is the quality of the course and all are special for different reasons – the only way to compare is to play them all.

Rest and relax

Barbados spa resorts range from modest facilities on the beach to luxury state of the art destinations. All offer the chance to unwind and relax, and the most luxurious provide a level of spectacular opulence which you won’t find anywhere else in the Caribbean.

With so much to see and do, it’s no wonder visitors return time and time again. Every visit can be a different experience entirely. So, whether you’re planning your first visit or you’re inspired to visit again, start planning your Barbados break today.
